    Hello there,

Just wondering about the current status of Static IP offering from Eir for domestic/residential customers? And pricing?

I'm helping a friend set up a local appliance in their home and they will need a static IP and ports forwarded from the routers?

Just checking that it's a simple connection and ports can be forwarded, is there any NAT'ing going on like the mobile guys do some times?

Dynamic DNS is an option also, but a static IP is certainly preferential.

    Thank you

I would prefer Dynamic dns, as if someone spots the service on the open port, they can try a brute force attack for months, dynamic dns allows their ip to change, and still allow them to access it, the device or router would have to offer the service, madness leaving another yoke running 24x7
