Health insurance break- avoiding Lifetime Com Rating loading when swapping to another provider

I have health insurance with VHI and its costing too much.

I want to swap to a cheaper policy with bare minimum cover.

Can I also take a break of 12 weeks without getting landed with a loading ? Im older than 35

If you have a break in health insurance cover of more than  13 weeks

You may have to serve new customer waiting periods again. If you are aged 35 or above, a Lifetime Community Rating loading may also be added to the cost of your policy.

Yes, BUT, if anything happens in that 13 weeks, you would not be covered and possibly not covered for that specific issue for 2 years.

However, if you are healthy, you may find such risk is very low.

The main difference in many plans at the lower end is whether you prefer a private room or semi private room. If you are happy sharing a room, go for a basic plan
