RedFM sounding very slick this morning with a new tagline. Very 98FM.

No longer Cork’s Hit Music Station.

The news jingle is in line with TodayFm and 98FM.

    ”Play RedFM”.

  • The youth market increasingly has never owned an FM radio.

Many of them at this stage were born into an era of smartphones. They also aren’t likely to be drivers until their 20s, so are unlikely to listen to FM in the car.

Plenty of non-youths don’t listen to FM much either but I think you’re kidding yourself trying to broadcast FM to the a youth audience at this stage. There’s a generational tech barrier.

Had a listen back, sounds slick, same indents as 98FM in Dublin now is it?

Interesting move to "Good Times" as its failed to land in Dublin with 98FM it seems, audience hasn't improved and its been nearly two years and lots of investment in marketing and rebranding. They seem to lean heavily on Dance and Rnb anthems, wonder will Red do the same with some more new music in the mix.

I’ve noticed they are playing some kinda obscure R&B with dance classics, but the dance classics are ones you haven’t heard in years. I like it to a point, but over on 96FM they are banging out the more well known big dance tunes from 92-99, (Snap, Livin Joy, MC Sar etc) and it sounds much better.

I think they may not have the ratings impact they expect even though I really like the slick new sound.
