    Supid question time

I'm doing an 18mm rebate, I need to order a bit with guide bearing for this, so question is does a 18mm bit take out 9 mm or 18mm, or do I order a 36mm??

    Thanks

If it has a guide bearing then it should be <9mm.

I assume it's the edge of a piece of timber you are rebating and not the middle.if it's the middle then you don't need the guide bearing but a router guide to make sure it stays in the same place all the way along the timber.

Depending on the depth your going you may want to do it in a few passes
