Redundancy question and accepting a new job

I've a friend who is being made redundant currently. The place of business is closed and will not be opening back up but they are still being paid until the redundancy is finalised. The redundancy process is being held up due to the covid crisis.

She has a job offer for a new job and will be required to start immediately. If she starts in the new job will her redundancy be affected? Essentially it will be like shes working two jobs and one is letting her go after 3 years service.

The broad answer (in my experience) is that if she can get the permission of the old employer to work for the new employer, then she's probably OK. Definitely talk to an employment solicitor before approaching old employer.

If shes working 0 hours would she need to ask her employer for permission. It doesn't state anything in her contract about working a second job or solely working the single job. So in this case she is entitled to redundancy.
