    Hi folks.

Any ideas here. I bough a lenovo 11" 4gb 64gb the other day, just for a bit of light college work, watching vimeo tutorials etc. Nothing heavy

However, everythimg I do on the computer takes forever to load. Click a link and it takes forever to pop up. Videos buffering when there only 2 min old. Might this be a WiFi issue? I had a 2gb 32gb notebook before and it ran like a dream compared to this

I bet there is a load of Lenovo bloatware on it causing it to be slow.

What exact laptop? What CPU? What OS?

Lenovo Ideapad S130. Operating windows 10 Intel Celeron N4000 processor

I was looking at pre installed apps but can't find much in the way of lenovo bloat, unless anyone can point me in the right direction

I'm not looking this to be a power house, but would like to be able to watch a video with out skipping or buffering!

Look at the task manager, see what is using up the CPU.
    Does it have an SSD?

I would take it back. Might be bloatware as suggested but rather than remove it I'd just return it. Ive had to return a couple to Argos that I bought that were crap. One was a Lenovo that I found the colours on the display were way off and I do some photoshop stuff so that was no good, even tho I usually use an IPS monitor once I noticed the issue I couldn't see keeping it. Another one I bought for my gf it took forever to load webpages and Netflix kept buffering too. The Lenovo I returned for a much cheaper HP, this was back in 2012 and it's still going strong.
And I had swore off HP having had one that the graphics card burnt out after 2 years (back when laptops were still dear)

Think sometimes you just get unlucky. That's why I am hesitant to buy them online, returns can be a pain.

I bought a cheap laptop brand new for the GF from PowerCity. I was going through the bulk Windows updates and it just wouldn't complete no matter how long it took. The installation was corrupted, I couldn't even install Windows from a USB. I returned it for a other, slightly more expensive one as the original was also much slower than I expected.

If a machine is running odd it could have a dodgy component, such as RAM.

would installing ubuntu or something similar make it any faster?

Try some performance tweaks before going down the Ubuntu route.

The Intel Celeron Processor is the main bottleneck there I would think combined with whatever software is loading on bootup.
You can reduce the amount of software starting in the background:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026268/windows-10-change-startup-apps
Double check that there isn't another antivirus running on it also. Win 10 has an integrated AV but if you or someone else installed another AV it will impact on the performance of the machine.

Outside of that, I suspect it's a budget PC and you often get what you pay for.

You might get better performance out of installing a different Operating System on it, but I am not sure if that is within your capabilities.

Ok it sounds like your gripe is with how slow the web experience is rather than the machine...

Does it perform fine when simply clicking around the OS? bringing up settings, opening folders, running an installed app like Word etc

If the issue is purely around the web experience then as mentioned above, you might have Win 10 updates downloading in the background. Also, its possible you have some WiFi management app like 'KillerWiFi' that's prioritizing the wrong traffic.

Regarding the Ubuntu comment... that's not a bad idea in general, but if you bought a brand new laptop with Win 10 then some of that laptop cost would be to cover the Win 10 license so I wouldn't simply throw that in the bin by swapping it out for a Linux distribution. But if you want to try Linux on that machine you can create a Live USB of Ubuntu and run that to see if your experience is any better.

Tbh the n4000 is a piss poor cpu that is not up to running windows well. The n4100 is far better.

All the same run task manager to see what is slowing down the machine in terms of resource consumption.
