I was wondering if I don't provide a cover letter in the job applications, would that put me in any disadvantage or looked down upon. I just applied for lots of jobs on indeed, attached my cv and answered the relevant questions. But didn't upload a cover letter. Do the employers expect a cover letter ?

I am just looking for summer work at the moment, since I am off uni for the next few months.

Yes, it absolutely puts you at a disadvantage. A big disadvantage.

    1. A cover letter is where you can sell yourself. I've gotten interviews based on my cover letter only.

    2. When you don't attach a personalised cover letter, the employer knows you're just mass applying for jobs.

    3. If the employer is getting lots of applications, and needs a way to blindly drop a bunch of them, the ones without a cover letter will be some of the first to go.
