Fixing 2 x 1 battens to hollow blocks

    Hi all,

What's the easiest / quickest way to fix battens to a hollow blockwork wall? I just want grounds for very light timber sheeting externally on a boundary wall. I hate using masonry nails and I suspect that they'd burst the blocks anyway. Will I have to drill, plug, screw or is there a quicker way? Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Sound man, thanks. I'll get a box of those so. I've always had trouble with steel nails.....bending, breaking, sparks flying etc etc!

I would suggest you drill the hole in the timber a tad bigger than the size of the express nail, as its easier to drive an you wont split the 2 by 1

express nails are great but fairly perminant. i would go for plugs and screws. at least you can take it down again
