Best diesel hatchback to buy?

    Hi looking to buy a new diesel hatchback. Budget up to 30k. Volvo v40, Audi A3se, VW Golf/Polo and Mercedes A class are cars of interest. Had a Fabia for 10 years and looking for a new experience. Btw cash purchase.

    Likely will need a bit more info for any advice.

    Is it just for you, or a family?
    How many miles do you do?
    Do you need plenty of storage?
    What type of driving do you do? City or long distances?

    Hey it is for a single occupant. Decent boot would be nice. A lot of driving. My Fabia had 200k clocked up in a decade of motoring. Not a lot of city driving. Would be nice to have a car with a nice interior. Economical fuel wise as well.

    Get a nice hatchback for 30k
    Brand new Volvo v40 would be a nice car. Get a nice spec for 30k

    Another vote for the V40, I may happen to own one, I recommend the 2l, very nippy and plenty of power when you need it :)

    Went for the Mercedes A Class. Lovely car to drive. The handbrake took some getting used to as its a button. Reverse is different from what I was used to. Sixth gear is also a novelty for me.
