Guys, I'm booking a holiday this week.
I will also take out family yearly travel insurance with AIB.

Should the cover start from my travel date that I plan to book or from now so that I've booked a holiday while insured?

    Thanks.

always best to have the insurance cover in place when the trip is booked

+1 In order to be covered for cancellation because of events like someone dies or becomes ill or your house burns down before the travel date, you'll need to have the cover in place before you book.

I'm pretty sure you can get insurance even after you book, as long as no event for which you could be claiming has happened...
