Slow speed warning noise not apparent on 30kw

I noticed on the 24 kW there was a distinctive approach warning " whine" as mentioned in the manual

On the 30kw , while there is sometimes a noticeable " radiator fan noise " I can't hear any warning whine , and nothing changes when I press the approach whine button , ( for want of a better description )

    Is it dealer configurable

My other wish , would be a codifgurable D/B mode , it should default to a user choice or select B as the first option

Regen should be variable by flappy padels like in the Golf and 0 regen when you lift off for coasting.

In B mode you get variable regen by backing on and off the accelerator slightly and fully back off if you want max regen.

Regarding no artificial noise ? brilliant, worst thing ever. I always turn it off, I got a horn for stupid pedestrians.

The radiator fan will come on for the Heat Pump to extract as much heat from the air as possible.

You know you can also have the heat fully on while fast charging.

Yes but my wife drives around a school and would dearly like the sound. It was much more apparent on the 24kw , anyone any ideas

What I meant by my B mode comment was the car should have an option to default to that rather then D

I don't find an issue driving near Children and Schools, estates etc, it's a non issue. Believe me. A blip of the horn if needs be.

What I would like to see is some kind of noise generator that is activated like a horn as the driver wishes. A bit like the leaf, where it can be activated or deactivated , unfortunately the leaf resets to noise generator when the car is turned on.

The U.S is about to pass a law requiring electrics to make the same DB as ICE cars, unbelievable, one of the beauties about electrics is their quietness, noise is a form of pollution and several hundred or thousand of electronic noise generators will be terrible.

If you're in a decent modern quiet petrol and you come from between a truck or Van then chances are you won't be heard over the noise of the Diesel by an unsuspecting pedestrian not paying attention , so I don't see the issue.

I find since I went back to petrol I have numptys walking out in front of me constantly. Being a black car doesn't help either. I got the dealer to turn on the drl's which has helped a lot but I still get the odd muppet.

Noise is definitely an issue, especially pulling out if being parked

I've had the Prius for 4 years which was completely silent when on battery only, and the Leaf over a year. I haven't hit anyone yet. I'm conscious the car is quiet. If someone did run out in front of me though you bet it would make the headlines that it was because the car is quiet when in reality a pedestrian shouldn't run out in front of traffic.

1 person doesn't make for a good sample size.

Seems to be some reports which found increase risks.

Some day people are going to really laugh at the idea of putting noise making devices in electric cars, it actually makes me sad because I guarantee it won't be funny with different pitched electronic whines introduced into towns and cities by thousands of cars. The Leaf and Renault Zoe in particular has a terrible screeching noise that I would not want amplified by a few hundred or thousand.

I can only imagine the awful headache people will have in the U.S when they pass the law that electrics must make the same level of DB an ICE makes, this is unbelievable.

As for blind people, well I imagine most of them know where pedestrian crosses are and such that I doubt it is an issue, all drivers need to be extra cautious at these crosses regardless.

I was in the woody's car park in Carlow Town a few weeks ago and came across an elderly woman with her Granddaughter and she had her face buried in her phone texting, and didn't hear me and was a bit startled when I bliped the horn, she didn't even have the Child by the hand, so if I had hit her would it be the fault of the silent Leaf or the fact the Woman should be looking where she's going and not have her face in the phone ? Luckily I am aware of the cars silence and use the horn when needed and most people don't have an issue with this, that's what the horn is for anyway.

If they are to make electrics as noisy as ICE then they remove one of the greatest benefits of electrics and that is they can remove huge levels of noise pollution from our streets because noise is also a form of pollution.

Regen is variable, there is a course method of D & B, and also the accelerator. e.g. if you are in B mode and going fast, and you fully lift off the peddle you get full regen. However if you press the peddle a little bit the regen is less.

You are demonstrating your lack of safety awareness, safety is not about apportioning blame , it's about putting in preventive methods. If people walk around with their heads in phones then so be it but you need to design for safety and if putting in a noise makes them aware of the 2 tonne object that is coming there way then so be it.
Your living in extreme denial if you can't see the dangers of silent vehicles in urban areas.

No I certainly did not demonstrate a lack of safety awareness , that's why I used my horn !

There's plenty of people who get hit by ICE cars every day what do you do then, make every car have a siren and bright flashing light in order to combat pedestrians who have no sense of responsibility for themselves or who brake the rules of the road ? And even with the amount of pedestrians hit by ICE cars daily this doesn't make headlines in the same way that "we must make electric cars noisy" does.

I bet if a pedestrian is hit by an EV they wouldn't even make the case that they didn't hear it until they find out it's an EV !

As I understand it the low speed noise is EU compliance law
I agree it's a useful safety feature. My issue was I don't hear anything different with the button up or down and the window open while going slowly.

I also support it as a safety feature. Idiots will always be idiots , safety systems are there to try and protect the idiots.
