X's and O's query

Hi guys, my girlfriend has been working 5 days a week from January 2014 with her current employer, at the start of October her boss told her he needed to cut her a day temporarily, then at the start of November he told her she will have to go to 3 days per week for the foreseeable future but he will help her get on to x and o's.

She went down then and applied, filled in the forms, employer did his bit and the lady seemed nice, the decision came out that she had been approved for payment, the deciding officer found that her normal working week was 4 days per week so since she had suffered a loss in days that she qualified.

She didn't get any documentation stating what rate she was on, how much she would be deducted per day worked or anything like that, and I personally feel that the 4 days might be significant is it? Her normal working week was 5 days a week full time, she couldnt go down and apply when he cut her to 4 days, but she was only on that for 4 weeks before she could go and apply for the 3 days.

Will that day have made a difference to how much she gets as her rate before days worked?

Is there anything she can do about it?

    Thanks in advance!

I should also add that her first cheque was backdated to the original claim and was for 350ish euro, the one she got yesterday said Flat Rate. 150.40 and it was from the 10/12/15-23/12/15 iirc meaning she was getting about 75euro a week?

Is that right like? Her status is she lives with her parents and is 26, don't think there is any other circumstance that would affect her claim but can ask her if needs be

she shouldn't be means tested because of her age so she is probably on 188 a week.
what they will do is work out her daily solial wage. around 35 a day
for every day she works they take that away from the 188 (if that's her rate) . what ever is left is her payment
    if she works 3 days then that's 3 x 35 =105. so 83 euro payment for 2 days

there are a few things she should know about xs and os.
you wont get any money for bank holidays etc , so make sure her employer is paying them. if you can choose your days , always work a bank holiday, she will be better off

if it works out that you can put days together to make a whole week then do you will work out better off

Oh, we thought the means test was a factor since she had to fill in so much stuff on the forms, what do you mean put days together to make a whole week?

Is she better off to just simply go down to them after Christmas and ask them for exactly what is going on as she hasn't got any other documentation off them other then slips.

Thanks for the reply, I take it you don't think the 4 day regular working week rather then a 5 day one makes any difference?

I don't think you are means tested over 25. I mean that if you work 4 days in one week you will be better off overall than working 2 days for 2 weeks

when I was on this a few years ago I was means tested (even though I shouldn't have been) I was getting 110 euro a week but deducted 35 ish a day I worked . if I worked 3 days or more I got nothing so it was better for me if I worked 5 or 6 but not the week after
