I've got a football shirt where the number applied on the back is damaged. Would it be possible to get the same jersey and replace the back panel (?) with a unblemished one? Would this be possible

I'm finding it a little hard to picture the problem but if the shirt itself is OK and the damaged number is still visible, I would try to trace the number itself and then cut out a pattern for the number and use it to cut out a new number from some suitable fabric (don't know what the material is like). I'd make it a little bigger than the tracing so that I could turn under the raw edge and then sew it on to the back of the shirt where the old number used to be. Not exactly "simples" but possible? A tube of fabric glue would help to adhere the number in place before sewing and help to avoid air pockets.

Or you could get fabric paint and re-trace the number, if it's only the colour that's faded but the fabric is ok.
