    Hi,

I have a potential buyer from the North willing to take my car on Saturday, so luckily i was able to get an appointment with the NCT centre today to get a calculation on how much rebate i am due back.

However, when they found my car on the system, it was listed as a 4 seats instead of a 2 seats. I pad them €38 and then they (NCT center) told me that they needed to send a query off to the revenue, and that the revenue would contact me with the price. I explained that you cannot get my car with 4 seats, however they said there was nothing they could do.

A - i will probably miss out on the sale this Saturday because i doubt the revenue will come back to me in time

B - my 30 days starts today, however i can't sell it without knowing the VRT rebate

Bad experience all round. Does anyone know how long the revenue might take to contact me, considering the last thing the NCT center told me is that i must sell the car within 30 days of the appointment today or else i would need to come back.

    There's a VRT rebate calculator on revenue.ie

I'm guessing it's something unusual if it's worth exporting.

OP, what are the details of the car? If it's registered here then surely they can find the model.
    Was the car imported previously?

Thanks guys. I found it on the revenue site and it's listed as €4,000 however they said they needed to query it.

    No, it wasn't exported previously

Hi Tigger. Sorry, where are you getting €700 from?

The revenue site lists €4000 as the rebate due.

i assumed you meant the car was valued at €4k not that the rebate is €4k
is that after the "processing fee"

There is a 500 euro admin fee, so OP should expect around €3500.

Hi, no the rebate was listed as €4,000.

I've just received a letter in the post confirming €3,900

So €3,400 (after admin fee... their admin staff are well paid :-)

Doing the same thing 15 different ways when once would do is a costly business :)

You don't need to go back after 30 days, just need to provide additional documentation.
