Organising a Golf Society Day Out

    Hi,

I'm putting together a golf society day out for the estate I live in. I'm just wondering if anyone has much experience of this and if so could you give me some tips of what I should be doing.

I'm not on our residents association anymore but I'll be organising it in conjunction with them.

    Things I've done.
    1) Picked the date (Aug 15th)
    2) Booked the course
    3) There's food included for after in the price per person
    4) Cleared it with the residents association.
    5) Got someone to sponsor a perpetual trophy.

    What I need to do
    1) Get people to play
    2) Decide what format we're going to play
    3) Figure out if we're going to have prizes etc.
    4) Figure out handicaps

So basically it's a small enough estate with about 60 houses being lived in. I know of around 10 golfers who will play and I'd expect at least 10 non golfers to play too. I was thinking about letting kids in too.

If there's non golfers and kids though the only simple thing for me would be to play a 4 ball scramble. That would leave me with a decision as to allow people to enter a team or to try to get people to sign up and then allocate a team as you'd really want to spread the golfers out.

Also how do you sort out handicaps for non handicapped players?

    Any advice would be appreciated!!
