Just came across a animal cruelty picture on facebook and nearly got sick,Don't think i will be able to eat for a couple of hours.
Sometimes i wish i lived in a bubble, happily unaware of all the crap that goes on day in and day out.
Be it assaults/murder,child neglect or animal cruelty i find it hard to block out how messed up we are and despite how much tech we develop and how educated we become these things will not change.

Its often said that you must take the bad with the good, and yes the majority are but its still very unsettling to know what is out there and constant bombardment on this in the news/online is building a mistrust in people.

Is it the case that most people are unaware of how messed up the world is or do people block it out in persuit of personal happiness ?

The whole human condition in general is about ignoring reality and keeping ourselves occupied enough so that we don't have to think about shit. Otherwise we'd all be running around screaming about the fact we are lost in space and nobody knows how or why we're here. Add to that that most of our loved ones will one day decompose and be eaten by worms and it's a wonder we're not all in the mental.

    What was the question again.

You have to be a slight bit mad not to go totally insane.

Here's an idea for you to help, CB19Kevo. Find a bit of good news on the internet, firefighters rescuing ducklings from a drain is always a good one! And post it to your facebook profile. Good stuff, stuff that makes you hope for humanity again, does exist out there, just we don't tend to notice it as much. Every time you see something dark and awful, post something happy to balance it out, if even just to your own mind :)

Sure, it can't hurt to spread a bit of niceness, even if it doesn't undo the cruelties that go on in the world.

I just find the off switch in my head,at the end of the day we're only bags of meat, blood and water, never going to change human nature at its base level.

I think the whole idea is to be a stronger and better person than what you are; not to wish for a better life but to live life better; and not to give in to the cynicism and passivity which is the hallmark of those who would indeed block it all out, in all its horror, because that would mean missing all its beauty.

Here's an even better way to block out all the crap in the world.

    Close your Facebook account.

I used to work with the results of the worst bits of human nature. Day in, day out I’d be confronted with some of the worst things that people did to each other. That was when I was probably most at peace with the world because I’d also get to see some of the very best of people. It’s when you’re sitting back and passively seeing the crap, with no way to make a difference (or see the difference other people make) that things really get to you.

If things are starting to get on top of you to the point where it’s bringing you down, find an area that interests you and find out how you can volunteer in an area that makes a difference.

If you’re not in a position to do that, block the shock-merchants on Facebook.

Spend less time on the www. then...
Why upset yourself over something you can't prevent? If you can prevent or alleviate it, why are you still here?

Get off facebook because it is full of people looking for attention and most will go to the most vile efforts to get people looking at their page of plop.

Don't like follow or comment just delete your account and get out in the world and see what it is really like!

You will never see what is really going on in the media or on the internets, you only see what others want you to see to favour their own agendas.

Why did you watch it then?
Not unlike those that are horrified by beheading videos after seeing several.

Didn't watch it,It was just a picture,And i skimmed past it pretty quick. I dont watch any beheading videos or similar, have seen some of that in the past but i feel its desrespectful to the victims to watch.

I also find a good pair of sunglasses and earphones helps :)
