As title says, have been given a set of 50mm Chinese carbon clinchers with a blown rim. Previous owner thought it would be ok to put tubs pressure into a carbon clincher rim and popped the rim so i need to replace the rim.

Looked into buying a rim from China but it's not much less than replacing the full wheel and said I'd take a chance and see if anyone has a 50mm carbon rim or wheel that's broken (spokes hub etc) that i could salvage the rim off of and rebuild the wheel. It's a rear 24 hole. Carbon is 3k gloss but not hugely fussy on finish.

Tried planet x Ireland and they don't sell rims separate, UK Shop do but they're a stupid price hence why i said I'd try for a used one......

The hubs on those wheels aren't really worth salvaging unless he upgraded from the usual novatecs. Probably better off buying a new wheel but the fact it blew out the rim should be something to consider.

It blew out the rim because the previous owner had tubs and thought tubs pressure and clincher pressure was the same. I've never heard anything real bad about the novatech hubs i thought you had a yoeleo set and said the hubs were fine?

Hubs are fine but given the opportunity to replace them I probably would. They're nothing overly fancy although my experience with hubs is limited particularly high end ones.

I'm actually considering replacing the hubs at the minute as I use my wheels year round and seems like this winter the rear took a bit of a beating and doesn't seem as smooth as they once were.
