I have a Firebird S Heat Pac which will not work. Oil is full and was running with no problems previously.
There is power to the boiler as the internal timer light is lit up but if I press the reset button nothing happens.
I have noticed that the reset button (which normally glows red if there is a problem) is not glowing!

This has never happened before so I'm 'stumped'!! Can anybody help?

have you tried the reset button on the thermostat that's in the boiler??
there could be a black cap on it that will have to be unscrewed and press the button underneath it

Yes already tried that! The reset button on the thermostat did not seem to click as I expected it would if there had been a problem ther and it had tripped from over heating!
The red reset button is not glowing although the internal timer is set to permanently on and the light is lit up. Any ideas?

Is the boiler hot inside.More than likely it's your circulating pump that's fecked.

Yes boiler was hot but by the time I got to it not that hot. Would a dead circulating pump stop the reset button from lighting up?

if its hot there is nothing wrong with the burner. no point in pressing the reset button on the burner..
it sounds a circulation problem either air locked, lack of water or the pump isn't working.

Burner is not running now and won't because the reset button is doing nothing, it is not lit up and if I press it nothing happens. The boiler is not hot now as it stopped working several hours ago. Do you know how I can definately identify whether the circulating pump is gone. Need to get this up and running as soon as possible so if it is the pump I need to get one tomorrow!

you have to find out where the power stops. is there any rooms stats on the walls any where?? the power normally goes from the timer maybe to a room stat/ motorized valve, then on to the high limit stat at the boiler through the other stat and then onto the burner to fire up.

    Check electrics to pump (fuse)
If there is power at pump.
On the front of the pump there is a screwdriver slot unscrew this put a screwdriver in the hole to feel if pump is running.
If this is not running new pump required

Checked all internal stats and turned them up to max before trying to restart with reset but the reset light is still not lighting as it normally does if there is a problem.

No fuse blown in the house (earth leakage board) normally can hear sound of the circulation pump running when I put my ear to the outside casing when the burner is not firing but no sound now.

    As I said circulating pump.
Your going to do well to get someone out tomorrow

the reset light will only come on if there is a problem with the burner (Ie no oil). it had heated up so there is no problem with the burner! so you wont get a reset light on..

what sort of timer have to got?? have to checked that there is definitely power at the boiler?? does the circulating pump definitely have power?
as Robbie said open the screw in the centre of the pump and see and see is it spinning or air might need to be released.

is there a pressure gauge on the system any where and what does it read??

Firstly there is no link to the red reset light coming on and the pump not working.Firstly you MUST check if you have power going to the boiler. My money would be on there being no power going to the boiler.
If you have no power at boiler you will have to be looking at the timeclock, room thermostst and motorised valves.Do you know where the motorisied valves are?, ps. just because you have a light on in the timer clock does not necessarily mean you have power at the boiler

Solved my problem - circulation pump had gone. Repalced it and now running and warm again.
