Just wondering what ye think of this, the uncle runs dairy herd and fattens all non friesian heifer calves, he doesnt sell any of them because hes convinced there is some sort of a infection that they get and doesnt want to give it to anyone else. Hes had numerous tests but nothing shows up and he vaccinates all animals for IBR BVD and lepto i think. What would ye do?

Why does he think they have some infection? Do they thrive poorly? If he didn't think they had this infection would he sell them as calves?

Sorry he thinks it may be a virus. They seem to cough alot and mucus coming from their nose. He does alot of vaccinating and disinfecting but still seems to be around. Well before he wouldnt have as he was 50/50 with dairy and beef but he wants to go fully dairy in a few years but this would be holding him back. It depends if theyre bad with it they wont thrive as well but usually hes able to fatten all. He also finds that if he buys in a few calves that are 2-3 weeks old they can pick it up after awhile.
