Can anyone say for certain what effect of disabling the Blowback has on FPS on the G&G TR16 or any G&G blowback models... I ask because I was considering disabling it on my own just to test the theory, im only getting 280 fps out of the gun at the moment and a team mate bought the same gun from the time and gets the same FPS out of his too.. Don't get me wrong it don't really affect the gun I shoots well and has excellent range but and it seems there's a lack of clear info on the subject some claiming + 30 fps increase and some claiming none at all.. So let me know if you have any first hand experience with it and what ya found.. thanks in advance :-)

had a G & G raider with blowback, and fitted a stronger spring, got the FPS up to 315, if you just remove the blowback piston and dont replace the cylinder then the air that was operating the blowback will still vent, and you will probably get a drop in fps as there is no back pressure from the blowback piston

The G&G range of M4 that use the pneumatic type blowback system have a smaller cylinder mounted on top of the main cylinder
There is a hole in the main cylinder wall through which air passes from the main cylinder to this secondary which is connected to the fake bolt and gives the visual effect of a moving bolt

Now some people have just removed the circlip that connect the shaft from this second cylinder to the fake bolt and think that they have disconnected the blow-back which it does not as air can still pass between the two cylinders and the rod still extends with each stroke of the piston

In order to properly disconnect the blow-back you need to close off the hole in the main cylinder so as to contain all the air within it
You could just replace the main cylinder but a standard cylinder will not fit as the G&G cylinder has a notch to ensure the alignment of the two holes in the large and small cylinders
So you either need to cut a notch in the cylinder or remove the matching tab in the gearbox shell
Personally I would suggest that you cut the notch in the cylinder as but doing so you can always go back to the original blow-back

From personal experience I have found that the seals in the smaller cylinder are usually where leaks occur and you are losing FPS due to air escaping from it
After fixing these seals I have seen a 20-30fps increase in the muzzle velocity
This is where I would look first before doing anything else
