Poor RTE couldn't satisfy his ludicrous wage demands.

His demands were not 'ludicrous' if they were met by Newstalk.

Everyone wants the most they can get, that applies whether you're selling your house or negotiating your salary.

    Good luck to him.

Thanks for the smart reply. If you have nothing construction to say, don't bother next time.

I don't know Rte work, I have no interest in one of the worse god awful national broadcast networks. I know my TV licence money goes to their **** network but unsure about revenue by other means like advertising to pay for the likes of Kenny etc

I've nothing against Kenny, its not his fault the imbeciles running RTE decide to pay their 'stars' obscene salaries, he also took pay cuts in 09,10 and 11 im fairly sure. Hope he brings some more people to Newstalk, a great station in my opinion.

I saw this as inevitable. Since 2009, Pat Kenny has been in broadcasting wilderness in RTE and seemed to be going nowhere with what he tried since he gave up the Late Late Show. As a broadcaster, Kenny has always been professional and with the right material, he shone. He did not deserve the obscene salary though no matter how professional he was and is.

At first, Kenny did everything from music radio to current affairs to Eurovision to chat shows.

Kenny's Late Late show had its good and poor moments. As of 2013 and straight out of the 2012-2013 season (the worst season ever imv) of the Tubridy Late Late Show, the old days of Kenny's version appear decidedly good by comparison.

But, then, he tried other concepts. The Frontline was overall a very poor and uninventive show. Kenny did his best with what was overall poor fare and it got bogged down in negativity, repetitiveness and aggression. It was axed earlier in the year but that was long overdue and inevitable. Pat then tried to fit into Primetime, which is a much better show but one which is synonymously linked with Miriam O'Callaghan. Pat seemed to have much a lesser role in it and Miriam remained the person most associated with it.

The Frontline remains one of the worst concepts ever on RTE. I guess it was an attempt to mix the Late Late Show and current affairs programmes like Primetime or (Kenny's old 1980s one) Today Tonight with a Liveline style over the top whingeing. It backfired on all counts.

However, Kenny is not completely finished yet. Expect to see him on RTE again in some role. Like Gaybo!

With Kenny as the only star (apart by the ever present Miriam) that might be worth paying a high six figure salary for gone - will Tubridy and Marian finucane be the next to be asked to find alternative dossing accommodations ? I can't see anybody forking out their asking figures.

It would be great if RTE got rid of these people:

Tubridy, Donal Skehan, Brian Ormond, Twink (as a guest or as a presenter, we don't want her!), Louis Walsh and his watered down pop/country/boyband acts, Nicky Byrne and them snobby Allens.

When you're a mod I'll pay attention to you telling me when I can and can't post.

They don't divide up the money into easy to track sections. "Oh let's put the licence fees over here for Pat Kenny.... the advertising money - that's Derek Mooney's." Your fee go towards it as does lots of other things.

But naturally since Kenny doesn't work for them any more your licence fee won't be used to pay his wages. Your question was redundant, hence my smart reply.
