How to find half sister

I am interested in trying to find my half sister, but I don't know if it is possible or where to even start. I know her first name but don't know how it is spelt, don't know who her father is, where she was born or what name my mother was using when she was born but I know my mothers maiden name, but she doesn't use that. She rejected me as a baby and I don't know anything else about her or her relatives and I don't have any other family alive that know her or her details either so I'm pretty much on my own with this. I don't want to trace my mother. She rejected my half sister also as a baby so I don't know where she lived as a child or who brought her up. Is it a lost cause to try and trace a half sister with so little information? Not sure it would even be possible.

    possible_or_impossible
There is an Adoption forum here on boards where many posters would have traced family members. Let me know if you want your thread moved there.

Is there anyone in your mothers family whom you can approach for help. They may be able to give you your sisters full name, the name your mother used when the baby was born or even a date and place of birth.
Good luck, hope everything turns out well.
