    Hi guys..

Right so I've had 3 mobile broadband for 2 years and since I live in a rural poor reception area the connection is poor.. Also there is one mast covering my area where O2 have 4, a 3 customer services agent once let it slip that we were using one of the most congested masts in the country...

Here's my current speed test.. less than inspiring :(

    SO..

I'm considering switching to O2.. On their map I'm shown as an area of variable coverage.. Is anyone here with O2 in a similar designated area?, hows it working out... It couldn't be much worse than what I have..

I'm thinking of ordering it online, that gives me 7 days to return it if the coverage isn't any better..

We've been with O2 for 3 years, paying around €20 a month for the broadband connection. We don't show up on the O2 map as having any coverage at all, but as we're the highest thing around here we thought we'd give it a go as nothing would block our signal even though we are over 12km from the mast. Couple of downsides. NEVER tell your neighbours who provides your internet and direct them to the 3 congested mast!! Our signal wavers significantly and sometimes drops completely in bad weather (esp high winds). We had an "out of the blue" bill for €400 for ONE MONTH - they said excessive usage but after protracted wrangling climbed down and offered us an account credit for €300+ - which basically tied us to them for 15 months!!! We asked for fail safe notification on the account to text and email us if the account breaches or is about to breach our limit - and nearly 15 months on we still have had no further breaches, so I suspect it was a way to lock us in for 15 months!!! Can't wait until the time's up and we'll be switching to Lightspeed. We don't have a lot of choice locally as we're rural and on the fringes of most of the networks and we'll pay slightly more for the service but local feedback is a more reliable service with greater flexibility. Oh and by the way O2 are ALWAYS offline in the early hours of Saturday morning, sometimes right through until early afternoon. THEY say - congestion, but on talking to an engineer recently he said they always do their maintenance at this time...Would I recommend O2 - mheh - when it's your only option Yes, but when not, look around and max out your community info.
