Amazon Marketplace return of damaged goods.

Hi, I bought a DVD from an Amazon marketplace seller and when it arrived there was a crack in the the centre hole of the disc. I'd like to return it for a replacement obviously. Could anybody tell me what the norm here is for returns on the marketplace - or is there a norm?(!).

I've contacted the seller to inform them of the issue and that I'd like a replacement if one is available (I can see they have another for sale). How long should I wait for a reply? This is my first time using Amazon marketplace so I'm a bit of a newbie at it.

Wait on a reply from the seller, the seller should give you an RMA number and a return address. Might be a good idea to return by registered post.

Is the seller a commercial seller using the Amazon site or is the Amazon.com, Inc. company that sold the item to you?

Thanks. How does the postage return work? Do I have to pay for the postage or do I get reimbursed for it?

Yes unfortunately, the buyer generally has to cover the return postage and there own expense. But some sellers/companies can offer an SAE or may offer to cover the postage but that's at there own discretion and they don't have too, it's just a kind gesture from them.

If it was a change of mind I would expect to pay. As the item is damaged I would expect the seller to cover return fees, as it was not your fault.

Delivery and handling charges for returning unwanted items dispatched by a Seller are usually borne by the buyer. If you need to return an item due to a fault on the part of the Seller, you can request that they also reimburse you for return postage costs.

Thanks for the advice. The seller said they'd send out a replacement with no need to return the damaged disc.

Thank you again, you may close thread.
