Hand Scraper ......more push needed

An elderly neighbour of mine has an old type cubicle house that needs manual cleaning. At present he uses a hand scraper to push the slurry into an open pit.
I suggested he get one of those hand scrapers with wheels attached which would make it a bit easier for him to push.
I have a notion however that it might be possible to get these mechanically driven as well ????? Something like the system lawn mowers have so they do not need as much pushing.
Would anyone know if such a product exits ????

there is a fair push in the wheeled scraper, we had one before. Best thing is a small tractor (ie ford 3000/massey 135) and put the scraper on it. If he is pushing on a bit then it would make a huge difference, no pushing at all and cleaned out in 2 runs. he can use the samle tractor to scrape out the yard too. it would probably cost the same as converting a scraper.

A quick google for a power yard scraper turned up this.

i have seen one like this in a neighbours passageway for pushing in silage he also had a scraper attachment it .he had put a weight off a tractor on top of it for more torque but it worked a dream in tight area.:)

Thanks Folks ! Thats great. Price would be out of his range I think. This man loves the bit of farming and hopes to keep going as long as he can. An inspiration to all us younger, lazier folk.

    Zetorman
Maybe a second hand Allen scythe with a scraper on the front instead of the cutting bar ;)

get him to put in a water tap at the highest end, a few gallons of water each day will make scraping very easy

Why not an old ride on lawn mower with the cutting deck taken off and wheels with grip

Would he chance sitting on a quad ? If so you can get an automatic electric shift Honda with scraper on front.. Make life awful easy for him ... And if he didn't fancy climbing over the quad or up into a 135 ... You can get the Mule thingy by Yamaha with no climb ... Flat seats and a steering wheel. (approx 5K)

I know old boys that were dead against quads and laughed at the notion but once they got them a week ... Wondered how they got around without them before

Hi I came across these posts while looking for info on wheeled scraper
I presume that you might be talking about this one.

    http://www.mullinahonecoop.ie/catalog/partdetail.aspx?partno=JON00028

I expected it to cost no more than €200 but today I found out that they cost over €300 with the inflated tyres and somewhat less with the solid ones (this is a quite from Millinahone over the phone and they might not have even been quiting vat - all I wanted to know was there a version with rubber on the wings )

I was disappointed to see that the wings (with the wheels) are over an inch off the ground and as such will leave watery slurry off to the sides.
The area I have in mind to do daily is quite small and not worth starting up a tractor for but a bit much walking for a regular hand held scraper.

Ps Zetorman has your neighbour upgraded his scraper?

my dad had one of these about 20 years ago (its still parked up against the side of a shed at home). It was a right bugger to push in fact you would actully need two people. He got it for the collection yard for for the cubicle shed, in the end he got a new yard scraper to fit a small tractor he had at home to clean down the sheds and put a longer hose on the power washer to clean down the collection yard.

You'll mess up your back pushing one of these. if you've ever done a manual handling course, pushing forward like this is one of the worst things you can do. I have a bad back and I blame it on using one of these (without wheels).

Or a handy lad might mount a lawnmower engine and a set of drive wheels on that scraper,

My one cost 2k about 6 years ago but is working nearly every day since. Powered scraping is deffinately the way to go.
