I was surprised to see The Mix in there but any of these gigs would be awesome. I'd love to be at the Tour de France show.

Radioactivity would be something else too, and hearing some of the deeper album cuts done live would be weird, Sex Object springs to mind! Those lucky New Yorkers.

Edit: Tickets are $25! F**king hell that's a steal!

I know, thats 20 euros! Imagine hearing the whole of Trans Europe Express live for 20 lids in IMMA over here, wouldn't bother with The Mix myself.

It would be amazing, and an instant contender for best gig ever.

I like the way they've put a limit of two tickets per person for the whole event. So you can only attend a maximum of 2 shows (assuming people follow the rules). Everything about this event is being handled incredibly fairly. It's a credit to the organizers.

wouldn't bother with The Mix myself.

Obviously every one of these shows will sell out, but I would imagine The Mix will be the last one across the finish line alright.*



*I don't want to knock The Mix too much, it's still pretty decent, but let's face it, it's not going to be in anyones top two!

Also since the versions of all their stuff that they perform nowadays are the "Mix" type versions (ie more bpm and different synth sounds) how would it work, does this mean that for the original albums they will perform the slower/original mixes, because that would be great but I don't see it happening.

I've always liked Kraftwerk but always had an inkling that maybe they wouldn't translate well to a live gig.

Saw them in Kilmainham a few years back and was happily proved very very wrong!

That's a good question. When I first read the link you posted I assumed (I'm not sure why) that the songs would be played as they appeared on the original albums. That way the night when they play The Mix would showcase how the songs evolved over time. If all the albums are played in the newer style (more bpm etc.) then that would make The Mix gig pretty much irrelevant in the scheme of things as it would just be like a compilation show of the other nights.

This quote from the link you posted above suggests that it might actually be the ideal scenario of a mix of both styles:

Seen as they don't have Moogs and ARPs or any analogue synths anymore I think that might be another reason that they couldn't really perform them as they were but who knows? All I hope is that the gigs are recorded/streamed, because in the last 20 years or so they have never performed the majority of their albums tracks at all.

This point, which I somehow overlooked (d'oh), is more than a little plausible. I read an article about them selling a bunch of their gear a few years ago and promptly forgot all about it. It's a real shame.

Absolutely. Great stuff has been overlooked in their live set lists.

Cheers for the Youtoob clip Kevmol88,hadnt seen that,im only a casual fan(more into Can and some of the other Krautrock guys)but i absolutely love "The Man Machine",that would be amazing live id say,$25 dollars a ticket???? Jesus fair play to them,they could have charged several times that easily,hope theres a dvd on the way
