Have downloaded Dell drivers that say that they are compatible for this printer model but when I plug in the printer it is still not working for me!

Did you get any error messages during install? Heres something you could try:
    * Go int add/remore programs and uninstall the dell drivers
    * unplug the printers USB cable to the computer and re install the drivers
    * at the installation point you get "please turn on printer" plug it in and turn it on
    * When you plug in the printer and its on windows should take care of the rest, installing the drivers and configuring the printer

Hope this helps, if not write back

Hmm, I think you may be trying to install the driver direct. Try this:
    • Extract the driver zip file to your desktop in a folder "Driver"
    • Plug in the printer
    • Look for the printer in device manager (it will likely be an unknown device) and right click it>Properties>Update driver
    • Choose "Have Disk" and browse to the Driver folder on your desktop, make sure search sub folders is checked
    • See if that works
(You may also be able to install the driver through the "Add Printer" option in printers and faxes on XP, Devices & Printers in Vista/7)

    Apologies for late reply.

Followed your steps and also used Dell clean up patch, it is up and running now.

Thanks for your guidance and patience saved me the price of a new printer.
