We are renovating and extending an old house. I love the parquet flooring (the look anyway!) but don't know anything re durability etc. Anyone any experience of them? Also any recommendations for supplier? Budget tight of course!

    Thanks

if you have a look in some old churches and some old period homes you'll see loads of parquet flooring in near perfect condition
    therefore infinitely better durability
providing you choose the right timber brazilian mahogany would be best but most teaks and oaks are good too

cost wise you'll be lucky to get a price less then €100 per square metre

suppliers i haven't used them personally but i hear good things
Ebony&Co. in naas (i think) maybe maynooth

it is very expensive but if you intend on living in the house id go for it
but if you're selling the house on i'd get some semi solid that looks like parquet
it still pretty good wearing but nowhere near as good as proper parquet
