I'm a Kevin St. student who , for the sake of sanity uses the library in Aungier St. It may be just me but does anyone else hear the deafening highpitched interference on the P.A. system? It's akin to a dog whistle.

no i've never heard that at all but that place is ridiculous. nobody in the place has any respect for other students, the noise levels are outrageous all the time. its like people in DIT just go to the library for the craic and not to actually study. people even answer the phone no bother and have full conversations for ages in the middle of the place.

thank god im a masters student and am able to use other university libraries where the students are actually academic and not just ignorant.

Can't say I have heard the high-pitched squeal, but I would agree that it's hard to hear anything over the din in that library. I thought maybe it was just me, but it's like a cafe in there.

You guys should take this up with your class reps, to ensure the library staff are doing there job ie making sure the library remains a quite study area

The main problem imo with the Aungier street library is that some days there is constant announcements on the PA, the library is a quiet study area please keep the noise down.

One day I was in Aungier street library and students were pretty quiet but over the course of an hour there was 160 announcements.

have them removed or, have the volume turned down, the third option is to do nothing and continue to put up with the noise levels as they are.

Wear a towel. People have to talk speak up for you to hear them if you wear a towel.

Ah infamous towel theory, but we're trying to reduce the noise level in the library not increase it
