Cat convertor for Passat

    the wifes 2006 passat's(1.6 base model i think)cat needs to be replaced.
    my garage can't seem to sourse a spurious one and i can't afford €750 + labour for a VW one
    does anyone know is there a spurious one available(have seen a few on ebay but not sure if they're right)and also is going second hand with something like this a no no?

    ok mate heres your genuine vw part no. 3C0254300RX . it only cross references to one after market make a company it germany called lrt automotive. there part no. is 7048 . you can inquire with them youself or your garage can here: http://www.lrt-automotive.de/index.php?page=kontakt&lang=EN . im not sure if they supply any wholesales over here but they will let you know. regarding second hand i wouldnt bother.

    aswell be sure the cat is gone as a p0420 code can be a software issue with the blf engine. it can also cause the system to stay open loop. it more than likely is the cat. but ive looked at two this year which have only been software issues
