Should some legislation require more than a majority of the Dail?

Just thinking for the likes of massive bailouts/currency change etc should perhaps 2/3rds of TDs have to vote Yes and not just those in power?

I'm not sure how these could be defined, but perhaps there's a way in which it could be done so the government doesn't have such enormous powers.

It seems like a good idea to me anyway if an efficient mechanism could be established to decide which items need this majority.

But the government was voted for. People sometimes see them as unelected/unaccountable. Well, the present govt has just been elected, they have the biggest majority in history.

As for accountability, see what just happened to FF.

I think a parliament could be unworkable in such a situation. If the government say held 60% of seats, opposition parties could just collapse the gov at any such opportunity
