Starting a postgrad in DCU in september but I have a few questions you might be able to help me with!!

    1. The course is the PDA, how many exams in Semester I and II respectively?

    2. Whats the average intake?

    3. The fees are listed in the €7k region, does this include your registration fee or is that on top of the 7k?

    4. Ive applied for postgrad residences, will i get thrown into the standard accom with other postgrads or will i get into one of the postgrad blocks?

    5. Employment prospects of the course?

Phew, i know thats alot but if someone could answer a few of my questions Id be very grateful!

Re: fees. That'll be the total fees. There's no registration fee for postgrad courses, it's combined w/ the tuition fee. You'll probably have to put a significant deposit down. Aslo, you may be able to apply for a maintenance grant to cover /some/ of the 7k, you'd have to ask your local authority/VEC

Cheers for the reply, thank goodness it is only the 7k, which is bad enough as it is! As for the grant, i doubt I will, I haven't had it for my undergrad so I cant see myself getting it for the postgrad. Can anyone else shed some light on my other questions?

I had a few friends who did the PDA last year, so here's what I can remember about them.

They had around 4 to 5 exams a semester.
I remember them telling me there were around 60 in the class.
    Fees have been covered.
If you've applied for postgrad residence, you'll be in the postgrad block.
In terms of employment, you've got all the grad courses from the big 4 and smaller accountancy firms. They all seem to take on loads every year. 2 of my mates are in KPMG and the other is starting in PWC in October.

Also, a 1st in the course will let you gain entry into the Masters in Accounting, which is what the lad going to PWC did.

Cheers for this, the reason I ask about the residences is that the website states that postgrads who are staying for 12 months are housed in the postgrad centre whereas those staying for 9 months are housed in the college park apartments, can you shed light on this?

Il only be staying 9 months so I take it I wont be housed in the postgrad complex?

Probably not. You could be, depending on numbers and such. One of my mates was in there for three months because his house was getting done up. There's mostly Masters students who'd be hanging around for most of the 12 months.

    Hi guys

I'm really interested in doing this postgrad, currently filling out my application. Only problem is my final year of my degree (Structural Engineering) isn't going particularly well and there is a chance I may come out with a 2.2. I don't know anyone that has done this course and I'm just wondering has everyone you've known had a 1st or 2.1?

Hi May 11, I did the Pda last year and I knew people on it that had gotten a 2.2 in their degree, so don't worry about it!

    Hi,

I know this is an old thread but I'm looking at doing the PDA in September and I was wondering if anyone enrolled, went for an interview and were then offered sponsorship/reimbursement of their fees? I should have applied last year but wasn't 100% sure at the time.
    Many thanks!
