i'm an amateur writer who has a deep passion for writing (generally, litereature of all forms) but i'm not so good, i've never finished a story before, i'd appreciate the help of someone who's better at this to help me get better . maybe in the future we'd do things together.thanks

What exactly are you looking for help with?
Is there anything that you've written that you'd like feedback on or are you looking for general guidelines or help in a particular area?

actually i'd love to be treated like a dummy in writing and learn all the tips about writing from the basics.

i have a blog, i did not post any stories but i posted a couple of write-ups, the thing with me is, when writing i don't know well how to use fig of speech e.g based on the rule 1 of ur thread (truisms in... ). but u could check it out n tell me what u think.. www.queridah.blogspot.com. thanks

Before you post anything to a public blog, get someone to check it over. For short things, you can post here, and people will proof-read or critique. It's important that anything you blog should be in good accurate English. Bad spelling and grammar jump out in an embarrassing way. And if you blog it, it could be there years later, ready to embarrass you.

When you are blogging, try not to ramble. Write as if you were talking to one specific person and making a specific point.

ok i'll do just that, thanks. but it's not so easy for me... and that's what i want to be... a writer. but writing alone lacks perfection.

Don't aim for perfection, or you'll never get anything done. Just be sure about what you want to say, then say it in simple, straightforward English.

    Hey Zeenie,
Maybe consider writing a book review to get yourself started. You will get a sense of achievement when you finish it and when you move onto your next writing 'project' you will feel like you're building on something, rather than starting out of nowhere.
Learning how to even write a book review may help your own writing skills.

    Thanks, I'll try that.
