Hey, I know they're .22lr reduced velocity, but can the bullet's be bought in this country, and can small vermin be killed by a good shot, if hunted at all. ?

Wiki is generally quite good for basic info on most rounds, some small bits there to give you an idea of them. i've no direct exp with them, but its a start

I've used them a long time ago. Unlike the pictures in Wikipedia, the ones I used were a lead ball in that very short case. They would have been good for rats etc. but only at fairly close ranges.

I've no idea who made them at the time, but I suspect they were Eley manufactured.

Haven't seen them for sale in a long time.

I am confused, Here you state that you are using CB/BB 's with good results and in this thread you are asking if you can buy them.
    Am I missing something?

The lead ball is the BB, the one pictured on wiki is the CB

Yes cj you are, I did not mention the word using, read it again twice so you understand the difference between did and will, I didn't say it did shoot, I said it will shoot like a high powered air rifle,(PAST YOUR BED TIME), and this is only what I read on the internet, I've phoned round a few gun shop's, the story so far is naw, we've heard of them year's ago, but don't stock em".

Sorry my mistake, I thought you were speaking from experience.
There is a lot of water between will and did, post back when you get your CB/BBs and try them out. Hint try Remington Ceebees;)

I did some enquiring into these a couple of weeks ago. The only place who seemed to know anything them were Duffys in Galway. Unfortunately they dont have any in stock at the moment and it will be after Christmas before they do.

I have tried the CCI Cb Long but they were not very accurate in my Cz....also had to single load them as they would not cycle from the magazine.

    Ah yes,
Phoned round to-day, Anderson, Omagh, Co Tyrone have these cb's in cci long's, I bought 100 to try them out, went straight home and aired the Brno semi 22lr, loaded up the mag and tossed some bread into the garden, and waited, then some crow's landed on tree's near-hand, I zeroed one on to my scope, and bang, dead as a door nail, at about 30 ft. Christ these are powerful wee round's at that distance, Oh nearly for got I had to manually eject the empty's. sure what the hell, great bullet, great fun. This bullet saved me a fortune, I was going to buy an air rifle.

Thanks Mellor, I was aware. Wikipedia had an article on both with the same picture so I was just explaining the difference. Never used the CB's myself, they weren't on sale.

And they had to be single loaded as the case was too short to make mag loading anything other than a jamfest :(

    well rrpc,
Mine's a brno 581 semi, brill wee gun, and the same year as myself 40ish,he he. They fit into the mag all 8 bullet's, when 1 is fired, I have to anually pull the lever back to let the round out, and doing this it put's the live round into the barrel, it's just like working a bolt action rifle.:)
