I came across this one by accident.

The premise is a set of 'adult' friends who participate in a fantasy American football league, in relative degrees of OCD. Some of the humour is close to the bone (if you're a middle-aged man who spends too much free time looking at and talking about and reading about sport). Other parts of it are less original and 'comedy-by-numbers'.

In a poor season for new comedy, it's second to 'Modern Family' for me. The 'Phil' character in MF would be at home in 'The League', if he had any self-awareness ;) !

Overall, it's a decent effort, might struggle to get or justify a second season.

It's not bad and it makes a pretty good companion to "Always Sunny" - much more than anything else FX has tried to pair with it over the years. I'm not sold on it yet but we'll see how it holds up after a few episodes. My one fear is that with such a specific premise, it might struggle to have any coherent story lines once past the whole idea of the league...

Still for anyone who likes "Always Sunny in Philadelphia", you'll probably like this one...
