If a science student was working in a lab during the course of a year, could they get their work recognised somehow as module credits? Any random tidbits of info welcome. Just wondering if it's done here. I know it's done in done in a few other colleges.

Best bet would be ask the year co-ordinator for your course.

I doubt it will be recognised...in fact I am pretty sure it won't be.
