    I use TCD

but it seems to fail half the time! :(

The time provider NtpClient cannot reach or is currently receiving invalid time data from ntp.maths.tcd.ie (ntp.m|0x1|x.x.x.x:123->134.226.81.3:123).

    2 hours later

The time provider NtpClient is currently receiving valid time data from ntp.maths.tcd.ie (ntp.m|0x1| x.x.x.x:123->134.226.81.3:123).

What I do is point my machines at an NTP pool, instead of a single IP address. The pool is resolvable through a round-robin configuration.

    Try these: http://support.ntp.org/bin/view/Servers/NTPPoolServers

Or if you want a pool that is geographically close to you:

    http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/ie

    I use Trinity too.
I "think" this is what I have the DC pointing to: ns.maths.tcd.ie 134.226.81.11
Will check it out on Monday.

    No problems with it though.

edit: got the better of me; just checked. I too am using 134.226.81.3
    All ok.

    AL.

    I'm using ntp.maths.tcd.ie [2001:770:10:300::86e2:5103]

I had to configure the DC in client mode to get it working:

    w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:ntp.maths.tcd.ie,0x8 /syncfromflags:MANUAL

    net stop w32time
    net start w32time

    w32tm /resync

I didn't know Trinity had two ntp servers running...
I use ntp.tcd.ie - always seems to be online.

We've been using ntp.tcd.ie pretty much forever. If I had my way though it'd be ie.pool.ntp.org :)

TCD has several ntp servers running, ntp.tcd.ie (though it seems to have the wrong time, ironically), ntp.cs.tcd.ie (which is what I use), ntp.maths.tcd.ie and probably a few more.
But CuLT's right, you should be using the ie ntp pool.

I use ntp.tcd.ie as well. It seems to be bang on. Might switch over to ie.pool.ntp.org some day but right now I'm too lazy to change from the Trinity one. My laptop and my Blackberry are both synced to ntp.tcd.ie and it works. It's also pretty close to the Phone Clock thingy that Eircom(?) maintain - dial 1191.

    ie.pool.ntp.org

I used to use the TCD server(s) but have migrated most to ntp.org pool now
