Hello everyone in the sunny south east

My brother is having his stag this weekend in Wexford.

Any tips on cool bars/clubs to see,
and not-so cool places to avoid appreciated.

    Cheers!

Best places to go to would be The Crown bar, Maggie Mays.

Night club is the Stores but it also has a front bar that is free and open till 2 with music that is a good mix.

Chocolate bar is dead after 11.

Sky in the Ground is good old style pub

Talbot Hotel bar will have music!

No thank god. Stores would be the place of choice for Stag Night.

    Hello all

Thanks for the great info, we had a great time in Wexford town.
No-one was arrested or hospitalized, so happy days there.
Here is a short account for anyone else planning a stag / hen there.

We got the train down from Dublin, it was 2 and a half hours, a lovely
scenic journey @ €23 return. The train station is 2 mins walk outside the town centre.

We stayed Saturday night in the Maldron hotel, 5 mins in a taxi outside the
town centre. There are taxis lined up outside the train station.

The hotel was grand - big rooms, clean and basic. €50 a head per night.
Residents bar and fry up / cereal / fruit + yoghurt breakfast buffet in the morning,
this was included for some people and extra for others.
(I don't know why, but me and a few others didn't have to pay.)

After a short rest, we all set out to the town centre for our big night.
We got a minibus for 20 of us with the taxi company called 1st cabs,
very nice taxi driver who told us about the hot spots in town.

We had a lovely dinner in Springstein's Steakhouse on the quay.
Lovely chips, €14 for a main course.

We then hit the bars, here are all the ones I was in:

The Thirsty Monk - we started here, a cosy locals bar with a real coal fire,
not ideal for a stag do, but nice for a drink and a chat.
You could see all the talent going down the street to Dakota, one of the party bars.

Dakota - We didn't go in here, one of our party was too wasted,
looked like your standard disco pub for the many fine things in Wexford ;)

The Cape Bar - We only had the one in this lovely little spot.
A really nice pub. Would liked to have stayed longer,
looked like a great spot for a chat and a few jars.

    Maggie May's - A really nice place with a 20 - 30 something crowd.
Class beer garden with lots of chairs and a big open log fire. We all agreed
that this was the top pub we were in.

The Thirsty Monk, Dakota and Maggie May's are all in the same street.

The Centenary Stores - This is the nightclub we were in.
We went in around 10.45, there were already a huge que to get in.

It is a three level place, a disco bar on the ground floor and two smaller floor upstairs.
There is an ATM on the ground floor as well.
The upper floors play different music, and are where we felt most at home.
    Plenty of drinks and dancing.

I have to say the doormen were the most professional and polite we've seen in a long time.
They were working hard from the que onwards to weed out the drunks and potential troublemakers.
Inside the place there were plenty of security staff watching the crowd. All the security staff were
    wearing walkie-talkies and ear-pieces - a sign of a well run place.

This is an ideal spot for a dance and drink, there were a few hen partys there having a good time.

There was a visible Garda presence on foot and in cars throughtout the night, this was very good to see.
Never felt threatened or saw any fights or muppets.

Sunday Morning was lovely and bright for a stroll around a new town,
I had pancakes in The Potato Market cafe on the quays. This was down
the quays about 2 mins from Springstein's.

Wexford is a lovely town, very clean and all the attractions for a good stag / hen are in the one place.

Once again thanks for the tips.

    Would definetley go back again.
