I have 2 laptops that I want to connect to my Denon amp and speakers. I'll be using them to play music at a friends party. What is the easiest way of connecting them both and what type of leads do I need? Is it possible to get one lead that has two connections or do I need two seperate leads?

you'll need two leads and I expect the easiest way to do it is from the headphone socket of the laptop to the phono sockets on the amp - ie mini-jack to left & right phono cables.
Be warned, if it's a good party your speakers will get blown (and I don't mean that in a nice way;) )

Ta! The speakers are Celetron ones and seem pretty powerful. Is there such a thing as a cheap mixer I can use with the laptops? If I'm using the headphone sockets to hook up to the amps, can I get a splitter so I can actually use a pair of headphones as well?

Is there a headphone socket on the amp? Otherwise no. There are ways of ramming two sources into one input but it's not big and it's not clever and there's no advantage either.
A cheap mixer would be the proper way to do it - there's a musical instrument shop on Chapel Street that might have something or scan adverts.ie or buy & Sell.

and I've seen far more powerful speakers than those go bye bye at a party. Just keep guard... it's usually the party idiot who turns the volume to 10 'cos he's great craic. Easy to spot in advance though.

Is there a headphone socket on the amp? Yes, there is. So I plug the headphones into the amp? How will that work? I want to be able to listen to the music on the laptops before I play it through the amp  Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to hire a system because all the music is on my laptops not cds.

cheap €50 mixer will do the trick. the place on capel street is sounds around. i'd recommend them as well for DJ gear

    http://www.soundsaround.ie/

then use the cables slaphead said 2 rca to mini jack (one for each laptop to mixer) then a 2 rca to 2 rca cable from the mixer to the amp. then you can use headphones with the mixer to cue up the songs.

and yes, speakers at parties blow far too easy!! plug all the cables in first and then turn the amp on... don't learn that lesson the hard way like i did.

Ah... my psychic powers must be waning. Get (or hire) a mixer so, even if you buy one you'll sell it again with only a small loss.
