I have currently about 45,000 to invest and want to put it to good use. its currently in savings reaping poor returns in contrast to the possibilities out there. I have a bit of money in managed funds already for 5 years but are only doing ok. i just want to talk to a person with independent investment advice. Thinking of investing in shares, might intensively research some companies for a while. other options are in commodities or possibly foreign property which interests me. Any ideas on a professional with good investment advice for my money in ireland? Just to pay someone a good fee for good advice.

the only place that is giving any returns at the moment is savings , you can get up on 5.5% with many banks etc , such returns are unthinkable on the stock market right now
only theres a hefty penalty for withdrawing money from a fund right now , i would grab it and stick it in savings , i put money in a well spread fund a little over a year ago and have only managed to break even and that was by having the wit to put most of it in commodities

Pokerface, judging from the details in your question you consider yourself an active investor as opposed to a passive investor. The distinction is important as most financial advisers advise is passive investor focused. The best people to talk to would be people in your position who have more experience then you.

Irish_bob, as far as cash being the best place to have your money, this is not accurate. A simple stock screen search will show plenty of stocks yielding more than 5.5%. Additionally, if you have a negative view on the stock market you have the ability to short the market.

there are hardly plenty , besides pokerface is not an experienced investor or he would not be asking for advice in here
there maybe plenty of individual company shares out there like food companies which are giving good returns right now but you would most likely have to look to a foreign stock broker to buy them
you could of course buy online but that is hardly something a regular guy or gal is likely to feel comfortable doing
