    Hey,

    Beginners I presume?

Bring a clock into class and make sure they know their numbers (1 to 12)

Start with easy 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock then ask them for more complex ones like quarter past, quarter too etc... test them using the clock.

Careful if there are any Germans in the class with the half past's...

Then put them into pairs have them ask each other what time they do certain things, like wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, come to school go to bed etc...

Get them to report back to the class what time their partners do the particular activities. Eg: "Pedro wakes up at 7.20 and eats breakfast at 7.30" etc...

I'ts a basic class so difficult to be very original. Just make sure the students are doing lots of talking and that u do as little as possible

I think the Poles have the half past 'issue' too.

You could also bring in some copies of train or bus timetables and construct sentences like 'To be in Cork at a quarter past eleven, I must get the train at half nine'.

    Thanks

Can anyone suggest appropriate classroom language for introducing vocabulary ? " what is this? " sounds a bit weak. I'm just returning to E.F. L after a considerable period away and struggling with simplifying my instructions to match my pupils level......... I'd really appreciate any suggestions for classroom language.

    Thanks again
