Not sure if this is worthy of another thread but anyways.

I've been offered a job by a company. My current company pays out a bonus at the end of the year. The new company wants me to start asap and have offered me a signing on bonus if I hand in my notice on the 21st of December the day I get (or am due to get the bonus).

What would people do in this situation?

It seems to me you win either way. If you hanaded in your notice to leave your current job its mostly likely cause you where un-happy with the work/job or company itself. I'd hand my notice in tomorrow and agree to the new job, a nice way to ring the new year and you also get a singing on bonus.

    Good Luck.

Hand in your notice on the 21st enjoy your bonus and your signing on bonus.

At the end of the day, your only a number....

    Best of Luck

I would suggest waiting until you have the bonus in your account (or at least some kind of guarantee) before handing in notice. I've heard of some employers getting quite tight once they knew that they gained nothing from paying the bonus.

That was the plan. I told the new company that the earliest I would my notice is when the money was in my account and they were happy with that.

With online banking thats easy to check.
