Need help with a broken laptop

    Hi im new to the boards so frist of ill say a big HI

    I bought a laptop of the Adverts bought it as faulty was told wont boot in to windows

    Anyway have it at home powered it up and not getting anything on the screen so i hocked up my monitor to it and i don't get anything i tried pressing the FN key and the monitor key don't get anything now at the moment i don't have a hard drive in it but i should still get the bios or something the keyboard lights up and when i put a hard drive in i can hear it spinning and dvd drive spins up cd's etc

    So i think it is the onbord graphics

    Im looking for some feed back on this as i don't want to go out and buy a new motherboard and then find out it is something else wrong with it if you think its going to need a new motherboard let me no or if you think it could be something else let me no thanks

    Is there any other tests i could do

    Try swapping out the sticks of RAM that are in the laptop, or if theres 2 sticks in it, try one stick of ram at a time. Nothing comming on screen is a serious enough problem, could be ram or the motherboard morethan likely. I would try changing the ram first and see what happens.

    Ok i tryed swapping around the ram no joy so what you think its the motherboard then ?
