Govenment Faciliting Transition to Biofuels in Ireland?

    I am currently working on a project with three other colleagues at NUIG and I have to present a presentation on how the Irish Government is facilitating society in the transition to biofuels in Ireland

    I could be very greatfull if you could take part in the poll so that i can reference it in the project.

    Biofuel cars are innefficent. Production of biofuels uses nearly as much energy as it produces. Personal transportation by cars in their current form is very inefficient. Using 3/4 of the oil we currently do to produce biofuel that will be burned sitting in a traffic jam should not be encouraged by the government.

    I didn't vote cause there isn't a waste of time option. It's a bit silly giving a 50% VRT rebate on a 3 litre plus car just because sometimes it runs on a battery that is charged by petrol in the first place. And then giving the same rebate for flexifuel cars when we don't have many stations and even if you buy the car there is noway to know if you run it on petrol or E85.

    They should be giving more to public transport. Don't get me wrong, I like my car but would much rather let someone else drive most of the time.

    Edit, I also agree with Cavadave on bio fuels.

    Biofuel cars may be a step in the right direction (at least they're looking for alternatives, ne?) but it isn't the solution. I voted 'no' because there really isn't any incentive to buy a biofuel car. You're still using petrol. I agree with Del2005. Why spend money on a biofuel car that (probably) won't be worth it when you can ride a bus?
