Recent wrap bug with Notepad/Text files

This has only begun to happen recently, but when pasting from Notepad into other documents, it is inserting hard returns, which never used to happen. It seems to be happening when Word Wrap is on. For example, sometimes I type up posts in Notepad before putting them into a message board. Usually when I Cut and Pasted, it always came in fine, with just my own hard returns showing. In recent times though it seems to be entering two hard returns in the middle of my text. It is happening on both XP and 2000 machines and on both Explorer and Firefox. Even when I fix it in the message board editor and copy and paste it back to Notepad, hoping the corrections will stay, and then copy and paste it into a message editor again on another board where I might be uploading the same post, the same thing happens again. Has anyone else seen this happening and do you know what is causing it? It's annoying but only a recent event.
