hi, i have an orbit and i bought and installed tomtom 6.03 (this version works with the orbit).

have a question, tomtom in general.

how do u navigate to places? say UCD campus? u can only write street name and number, or even dundrum shopping centre. i dont really know on what street they fall ( in general, not specific to those).

is there a way to just type in the place?

    thanks for answering!

    hi there

when searching addresses the lowest you can go would be house number and street, not the the actual name of the place.

To me ucd would be a point of interest(poi) so when you want to go navigating; go to navigate to...,Point of interest-poi in city-enter city-pick category and you should see college/university

just tested it myself and ucd is there!

It really up to yourself to guage what the place would be eg poi, street or town

shopping centres would also be a poi

    hope this helps

I'm sure it is, just not sure how to do it on the TomTom

I know on my Garmin Nuvi 310, I just press on the point where the place is you want to save with my finger, then press Save Location, give it a name, and then it will appear under My Locations -> Favourites

yeah only have a few shopping centres down in cork, its a hit and miss really!

to add them is done by adding favourites:
    1)add favourite
    2)point on map
3)click on the top left arrow symbol, this will show your exact location
    4)click done
    5)name whatever you want!

by the way, what map version are you using?
i honestly cant remember where to check!
