    Welcome to Boards!

Some nice work there. I've always wanted to get more into 3d stuff apart from boring CAD (ProEngineer Wildfire).

We don't see too much 3d stuff normally (mostly photoshop etc) so its great to see more of it. Keep posting.

Needs a lot of work but looks good. Maybe you could animate the arms also. Have him place this hands on this hips as the camera pans around.

    hey,
dont see many 3d artists around here !!

i would suggest you look at some tutorials on topology and edge loop flow -

you are getting artifacts all over that model! - especially on the neck.

do you work in the industry or are you a hobbyist?

To be honest the model wasnt built with animation in mind its really my first attempt at modelling a person and its based of an actionfigure id lying on top of the pc lol

I dont work in the industry unfortunately, would really love to someday though as I really love making 3D models. interiors and kinda machine based objects are what im good at but really trying to get a grasp of modelling organics.

The artifacts are shadows belive it or not I was modelling the head in a programme called MudBox I recomend anyone to check it out you can do some really good stuff in it and its a really realy good substitute for z-brush which is beyond insanity the level of complexity it involves in painting a decent mesh.

Am looking at learning a 3D program myself. 3D Max sounds good but a guy in my office used Blender to create the video below - he'd never done 3D animation before and it took him 6 months!

Now thats a really nice video. I have to say some really good work in it especially the lighting, also makes me want to quit working and watching tv too lol

Yeah he did it for a band called Kopek and the launch of the single & video was last night in Temple Bar.

Blender is free and if it can make a video like that then its the one I'm gonna start with!

Ive been using 3d max for afew years now and Its fairly adjustable like its a really good programme to adapt to load of material out there for help and tutorials. Blender is fairly good from what ive heard ive had very little experience with anything other than 3d max though.

Excellent work! I've just spent the past 2 hours grabbing this application and all the required Docs + plugins to get me started. I've got all the time in the world for the next 3 months so this should be fun......or not. The Beginner Manual comes out to roughly a few hundred pages.......lovely, but I've run outta things to do in the evening since I live alone *sniff* so this should keep me entertained. (Once Home & Away finishes at 7pm I always lose the will to live!)!

Have you had a go off Blender: Noob to pro yet? It's brilliant and dead easy to follow.

This is the first animation I've done in 3d Max so far for a college project. There's stuff that still needs fixing but I'm sick of looking at the damn bubbles :(
