A Northern Ireland view to 'God Save The Queen' debate.

As a Northern Protestant, I am an Ireland Rugby supporter who unfortunately cannot get to game to Saturday.

I just want to air my views on this. On previous posts a small minority will be booing GSTQ because of the deaths at Croke Park over 80 years ago. They are small minded people who don't realise that we northern rugby supporters are mainly Britsh protestants who have had years of bombing and shooting in our country. I have had several relatives killed by the so called Irish Republican Army. If I were to lower myself to the level of 'alanceltic' then our countries will never see peace. I am British and proud of it. But Britain doesn't have a rugby team. In my province we have several Ulstermen who play for Ireland, therefore that is my team. We also have a lot of English people in the North who support England- good for them I say. That is there team. If I were in Croke Park on Saturday i would be standing to attention for whatever is being played. I would also be singing God Save Our Queen because that is also the National Anthem of Northen Ireland. I would be applauding the Irish National Anthem and Irelands Eye. When Ulsterwon the Heinken Cup in '99 we were stoned in every town heading back form Dublin, just because we were flying our Ulster Flags in celebration. Will those thugs who stoned us that day, also stone us on staurday night. I think not. Good luck to Ireland and lets show some respect to others not so dis-similar to ourselves.

    Here, here!

Those idiots booing GSTQ would be like England booing Amhran na bhFiann because of the IRA bombings during the troubles. Good thing England don't hold a grudge.
