That most famous BL beige colour as seen on the Morrris Marina and Allegro actually looked well on a Stag in my opinion.

Are you doing this job out in the open? I would have removed a lot of the trim, fittings and chrome work before starting myself - but then I always make a big job out of everything.

ummm not that colour beige yes i am doing the work outside while it is sunny then it will go in to a garage for the rest. and yes all the chrome and fittings will be removed to-mm. i removed the front chrome today but put it back on as i haven,t marked them yet.

PS: 80 grit is too coarse for sanding paint to be recoated. i will now need to remove the 80 scratches using a finer and finer grit until you end up with a 400 to 600 scratch before i can paint. 80 is a good grit to remove the paint down to the metal before priming but if i want to remove only some oxidized paint it would probably have be best to use 220 on a sander then graduate to the finer grits. If i intend to 2K prime the entire car then block sand the primer i could probably get away with leaving a 180 or 220 scratch, apply your primer then block sand the primer with a finer grit before painting. But either way i should have between a 400 and a 600 scratch on the surface when you apply the new paint.

If I was you I'd be inclined to solder the boot door edge or at least weld in repair sections, its a notorious rot trap, fibreglass and filler won't last long there.

more pictures soon of full prep and then pictures of the finish job. I'm going to paint her in BRG but in a glossy paint not metallic. as i think this will be a better paint as so a good shine when polished:)
