A sad story

Turned 16 in May. Had the theory done and passed;) , just had to apply for my licence. So I had to get an eye site test done. Failed it:mad: , anyway got my glasses and applyed for the licence. Got it within a few weeks. I was trilled. I've had my moped since I was bout 12. Just driving it around the garden, never hacked it. Well anyway, I was hopeing to get some of the money for the insurance off my parents, didn't quite work out to plan. So I told them I would get a Summer job. They said that was grand and when I had €800 saved up they would give me the other €200. So anyway, I had to do my Junior Cert this year. Took up a bit of time and wasted a bit of the Summer.

So me goes out to look for a job. At this time of the year it is hard to find Summer work as nearly all of the places are taken. I was trying for weeks to get the job and spent about €100 on travelling expenses. So I finds one, it is a bit away from where I live and I would have to pay a large chunk out of my wages to travel up and down from where I live. The manager calls me in and says to me that I have the job, come back tomorrow at 8 to start. I was trilled. Anyway I arrive in at a bit before 8 to be told, sorry we don't need you now. The dissapointment is unexplainable. Me being a nice guy, I didn't tell her what to do with herself. I just walked out nice and quiet.

So now I am bored out of my head for the Summer. I won't be able to get my insurance money for my moped and I am a €100 less. If the insurance wasn't so deer maybe I would be able to aford it. Ahh well, sure thats life. Cac happens. Thanks for listening. Ohh yeah, any suggestions???

Ok this actually sounds wrong to me...but I do stand corrected. How is it that your insurance would only be 1000 euro?? I know it is a 50 cc bike and your living in Navan, but with me in Dunshaughlin and a 125cc bike my insurance is 1500 euro. Your price seems to be low, would have expected like 2000 to 3000 euro for insurance.

There is no easy way to accept this but there is certainly nothing you can do if you cant get the money to pay for insurance. There is no point in going out on the road with no Tax, insurance etc..etc..so your better off waiting for the money to build up. Even work at the weekend somewhere during school term and eventually you will get the money together. I'm sure there has to be some work going in the fast food places there in Navan or even work in one of the pubs as a floor boy...there is money there if you really want to go searching for it...you just have to be bold and dont take no for an answer!!!:D :D. Alternatively if you are strong enough you could try ringing up some landscaping companies/ heavy labour places that would employ you...just to do the odd jobs, nothing specialised.

Anyways, Just remember that if you are planning on getting out on the road and are putting money together for only insurance I would seriously advise you to start saving for proper protective gear such as boots, armored trousers, armored jacket, good gloves, and above all a good helmet. Every biker has seen at some stage a scooter rider with nothing but sneakers, tracksuit trousers, and t-shirt etc... and in my opinion this is so STUPID. There is a big difference between leaving your textile/leather worn down on the tarmac then to leave your skin, muscle and bone fragments. What would you rather happen??? And dont think because you travel slower than a motorbike that meeting a solid metal object like a car is going to be any softer.

Ok thats all from me..Best of luck with your saving!!
